Psalms 83

1 Do not keep silent, O God;
Do not hold Your peace or be still, O God.
2 For behold, Your enemies are in tumult,
And those who hate You have raised their heads [in hatred of You].
3 They concoct crafty schemes against Your people,
And conspire together against Your hidden and precious ones.
4 They have said, “Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation;
Let the name of Israel be remembered no more.

Notes:

On October 7th, 2023, Hamas Terrorists executed a series of coordinated attacks on Israel. The Palestinian Islamist militant group, Hamas, entered Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip and massacred Israeli civilians. This led to Israel invading Gaza, with the goal of preventing this kind of event from ever happening again.

Naturally this stirred up the Muslim world, with Iranian backed forces in Syria, and Lebanon firing rockets into Israel. A Proxy war is in full effect.

USA sent two Aircraft carrier groups to the region, and the world is watching events as they unfold (Revelation 12:14?).

Are these the start of the events written thousands of years ago by the prophets?
Will Russia reluctantly get involved?

“O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal” – is Gog a demon, with dominion over Russia and Turkey – like when the angel, Gabriel, said he was fighting with the prince of Persia? Daniel 10:13

Watch for the Destruction of Damascus (Isaiah 17)

“With pestilence and with bloodshed I will enter into judgment with Gog”
Will we see some sort of biological weapon being used or some plague or pandemic?
“In the day of sickness and incurable pain” (Isiah 17:11).
Even in Islamic teaching of this war (Called Yajuj and Majuj), they say that Allah will wipe them out with a disease, that causes lethal boils and eats the flesh from their bones.

  • Edom – from Esau, the brother of Jacob (Jordan and the ‘Palestinians’)
  • Ishmaelites – descended from Ishmael, son of Hagar (the Arabs)
  • Moab – son of Lot (Jordan east of the Dead Sea)
  • Hagarenes – descendants of Hagar (Egypt)
  • Gebal – ancient Byblus (north of Beirut, Lebanon)
  • Ammon – son of Lot (capital of Jordan)
  • Amalek – descended from Esau (Arabs south of Israel)
  • Philistines – from Ham (Palestinians on the Gaza strip, Hamas)
  • Tyre – a Phoenician city (Lebanon. Hezbolah)
  • Assur – founded Assyria (Syria and Northern Iraq)
  • Children of Lot – Moab and Ammon (Jordan)

Lyrics

Do not keep silent, oh God

Do not hold Your peace or be still, O God

For behold, Your enemies are in tumult

And those who hate You have raised their heads

They have said, Come, and let us wipe them out as a nation

Let the name of Israel be remembered no more.

For they have conspired together with one mind

Against You they make a covenant

The tents of Edom1 and the Ishmaelites2

Of Moab3 and the Hagrites4

Gebal5 and Ammon6 and Amalek7,

Philistia8 with the inhabitants of Tyre9

Assyria10 also has joined with them

They have helped the children of Lot

The Ammonites and the Moabites, and have been an arm of strength to them.

Deal with them as You did with Midian11,

As with Sisera12 and Jabin 13at the brook of Kishon14,

Who were destroyed at En-dor15,

Who became like dung for the earth.

Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb16

And all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna17,

Who said, “Let us possess for ourselves

The pastures of God.”

O my God, make them like a whirling dust,

Like chaff, worthless and without substance.

Violent Flame, terrify them with Your storm

And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

“Son of man, set your face against Gog of the land of Magog, the chief ruler of Meshech and Tubal18, and prophesy against him, and say,

‘Thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, chief ruler of Meshech and Tubal.

I will turn you around and put hooks into your jaws

and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them magnificently clothed in full armor,

Persia, Cush, and Put with them,

all of them with shield and helmet;

Gomer19 and all its troops; Beth-togarmah20 from the remote parts of the north and all its troops, many peoples with you.

Prepare yourself, you and all your hordes that are assembled around you,

and be a guard and a lookout for them.

After many days you will be summoned for service;

in the latter years you shall come into the land that is restored from the sword,

where people have been gathered out of many nations to the mountains of Israel,

You will go up against them, you will come like a storm;

you shall be like a cloud covering the land, you and all your troops, and many peoples with you.

It will come about on that day that thoughts will come into your mind, and you will devise an evil plan,

and you will say, ‘I will go up against an open country;

I will come against those who are at rest and peaceful, who live securely,

all of them living without walls and having neither bars nor gates’

O my God, make them like a whirling dust,

Violent Flame, terrify them with Your storm

It will come about on that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,”says the Lord God,

that My wrath will rise and show on My face.

In My zeal and in My blazing rage I declare that on that day there will most certainly be a great earthquake in the land of Israel,

so that the fishes of the sea, the birds of the sky, the animals of the field,

all the creatures that crawl on the earth, and all the men that are on the face of the earth will tremble and shake at My presence

the mountains will crumble, the steep places will fall, and every wall will fall to the ground.

“I will call for a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains,” says the Lord God.

“Every man’s sword will be against his brother”.

With pestilence and with bloodshed I will enter into judgment with Gog

and I will rain on him torrents of rain with hailstones,

fire and brimstone on his hordes and on the many nations that are with him.

Thus I shall magnify Myself and demonstrate My greatness and sanctify Myself,

and I will be recognized and will make Myself known in the sight of many nations;

they will know that I am the Lord.” ’

O my God, make them like a whirling dust,

Like chaff, worthless and without substance.

Violent Flame, terrify them with Your storm

O my God, make them like a whirling dust,

Like chaff, worthless and without substance.

Violent Flame, terrify them with Your storm

It draws upon imagery and language from various prophecies, particularly those from the book of Ezekiel and the book of Revelation.
The text seems to depict an apocalyptic scenario, involving divine retribution against enemies who have conspired against God’s people. The use of vivid language and poetic imagery portrays a scene of destruction and calamity, invoking elements of prophecy and divine intervention.
The themes of conflict, impending doom, and divine judgment are prominent throughout the verses, resonating with biblical prophecies related to eschatology and the end times.
